New initiatives:

New book has benchmarks

“Continuing Education: The Essentials” is a new Free book that can be used as a guidebook of practical benchmarks and ratios for success in lifelong learning.
The book is available for Free.  Just email TammyP@lern.org for your copy.

48 benchmark criteria

The 48 benchmark criteria in the LERN Program Review and Certification are increasingly being used as the practical standards for measuring success in lifelong learning programming.
For information on the Program Review and Certification, contact Greg Marsello at Marsello@lern.org

ILU growing

More programs are registering to offer the ILU. The ILU has been positively received by a number of Washington DC nationally based associations.  And an ILU Commission has been formed to oversee the ILU.
Leaders Thom Lowther of Washington DC and Doug Soo of Vancouver, BC, head the ILU Commission.

Certificate study for categories

National standards for certificate and certification programs are being developed. Already, categories of certificate and certification programs have been created.  Research is in progress to survey programs and determine the numbers of programs in each category.

LERN studies new pedagogy

LERN leaders are studying new learning and teaching principles for the 21st century.  As different education needs for the new century emerge, new learning and teaching principles will be required.  Chair of the Board Paula Hogard is leading this effort.
