Description:
Greenwich Community College runs a Coaching Scheme which is open to all staff (clients). It is coaching in the true sense, not mentoring or counselling. It encourages a solution focused approach for all situations and has the slogan:
“Coaching at GCC: The sky is the limit ~ it is just one small step after another!!”
The Coaching Scheme was initially part of a response to issues arising from an ‘Open Space’ Day, with the focus ‘How can we work together to make Greenwich Community College a college where everyone achieves their full potential’, an Organisational Climate Survey which followed on from the Open Space, and to enable a smooth shift of focus following a management restructure. Coaching was chosen as part of a whole college approach to achieving a more positive and results-focussed management within the organisation and to engender distributed, empowered leadership. The scheme was initiated from the top with the President being among the first cohort of staff to be trained – and coached.
