Description: The Community Enrichment Center (CEC) at Ozarks Technical Community College has been moving more programs to either online or hybrid status. With the downturn in the economy, prospective students are careful with their budgets and as Springfield is central a number of more rural counties, CEC developed (with state regulatory committee approval) a number of healthcare job skills training programs. Only two other programs state-wide had requested permission to create a hybrid Certified Nurse Assistant program, but none had launched their program and to date, OTC's CEC program is the only hybrid offered throughout Missouri for the CNA program. The program was launched in summer 2011 and piloted for that term with six students completing the program in 8 weeks. All were successful in passing state certification exams and had job offers before completion of the program. Since that time, OTC's CEC program is approved and prepared to launch the Certified Medication Technician and Insulin Administration in hybrid formats in fall 2011. The Community Enrichment Center has been recognized by the Missouri Community College Association for innovative technology for this effort. |
